Ryan Robinson

From a life behind bars (handlebars, that is), CCT founder Ryan Robinson started Carolina Cycle Tours with the simple idea of sharing his passion for cycling with family and friends, new and old. Ryan spent his childhood scooting around the neighborhood on a BMX bike and graduated to a youth spent bike commuting at Clemson University in the early 90s. While at Clemson he discovered the local trails and glimpsed a new thing called mountain biking. He rode his dad’s old touring bike on the open roads of Upstate South Carolina and found the simple gratification of going that one extra mile. Ryan road raced competitively for more than 20 years up to the elite category 1 level. He still enjoys racing at the elite and masters level, but truly savors the rides spent with his wife Martha, son Simon, mother Sally, and all of the Robinson clan. Ryan has experience coaching cyclists and triathletes of all levels, as well as in guiding and organizing both small and large group rides. From Team drivers, mechanics, and guides, Ryan brings in a lifetime of cycling friends to Carolina Cycle Tours.

Jason Griffin

Jason Griffin was born and raised in Easley, SC…His passion for two wheels began the age of 2 when he was the proud owner of his first motorcycle. His father raced off road motorcycles so, it was only natural for Jason to follow in his father’s footsteps. He began his career in AMA Pro Flattrack in 2008 while completing his BS at Southern Wesleyan University and then an MS in Biology from Clemson University. He currently resides at Tri County Technical College as a biology professor. While grasping numerous championships during his racing career, the fact that Jason lost his arm in a lawn mower accident at age 2, allows him to inspire a vast majority of people wherever he goes. Jason signed on with the Team Roger C Peace paracycling team in 2014 with hopes of qualifying for a spot on the US National Paralympic Cycling Team and bringing home the gold for Team USA. He brings with him years of experience from his racing careers, as well as a vast knowledge of the history of the upstate. Jason has spent years cycling, hiking, camping, fishing, and enjoying the mountains of upstate South Carolina, as well as Western North Carolina. He hopes to share his passion with 1st time visitors and make new memories with frequent visitors.

Greg Morgan

After a childhood of organized sports and a successful high school athletic career, Greg Morgan quickly realized he must find a sport to fill the “football void.” While attending Erskine College in the early 80’s Greg began competitive running and tennis. After reaching a 5.0 rating in tennis and a state championship, Greg decided to direct his energies to cycling to compliment running by competing in biathlons and duathlons. Upon learning more about the diverse opportunities in cycling he fell in love with century rides in the area that involved a lot of climbing. Since that time Greg has raced competitively in the masters divisions for more than 20 years winning the Southeast Regional Series 50+ in 2014. Having done most all of the well-known century rides in the Southeast numerous times, Greg brings both racing & touring experience. He is the captain of the Spinx Cycling Team currently competing in road racing, mountain biking, and Cyclecross. Greg is fortunate to have a great training partner in his wife Susan who is also a very accomplished competitive cyclist. With all the years of cycling experience, Greg is excited to share his familiarity with all the great cycling roads in upstate SC and Western NC building new relationships and friendships.

Chris Withers

Chris Withers has been an athlete for a life time. After a solid amateur career in the world of Motocross, he gained Pro status right out of high school and was racing on the tracks in stadiums across the United States and Australia with the very elite. The Midwest born rider spent 11 seasons dipping in and out of the Pro Tour before backing away.

From there Chris turned his attention to Vet racing and it was during this time that Chris discovered cycling.  He and his wife Laura saw the 2000 version of the Tour design France and were completely hooked. They never missed a minute of Le Tour and other Grand Tours and Classics and finally in 2006 he got his first road bike. At first it was for cross training for MX but after he departed from that, racing bicycles was the next logical step.
Chris has worked his way up and is a current Master and Cat 3 rider. He has a 2015 Master Championship in Georgia’s Nestor Cup along with wins and podiums in Cat 123 races. His biggest attribute as a racer is breakaway power and speed.
The ever friendly Georgia resident is true fan of cycling and loves the social aspect of group rides and racing as well as all the health and fitness benefits that are associated.  He has been with his wife Laura for 20 years and they have 2 fantastic daughters, Elsa 14 and Inga 11 who are both multi time State championship Gymnast, involved in Band, Track, and Cheerleading at their middle school in Waynesboro Ga.
“I am very happy and excited to be a part of Carolina Cycling Tours. The opportunity to work with riders and get to show them how beautiful the world can be from behind the handlebars of a bicycle gliding across the countryside is just fantastic. I’ll work hard to make sure everyone gets the most out of the experience and hopefully get the chance to make lifelong friends. It’s going to be a great journey!”
